Last week the Re team joined thousands of attendees at the annual ETH Denver conference held in chilly Denver, Colorado.
Outside of the conference itself, there were numerous side events discussing Bitcoin, meme coins, and our personal favorite Real World Assets (RWAs).
On Feb 29, the day of the conference, Re hosted an RWA Happy Hour at One Shot Back. Tacos and drinks were served, and guests participated in virtual golf and darts.
During the night Karn Saroya was joined for a fireside chat by Electric Capital General Partner Ken Deeter to discuss revolutionizing the reinsurance market through tokenization.
Their conversation explored Re’s vision for the traditional reinsurance ecosystem, the regulatory landscape, and the potential of DeFi protocols in enhancing trust and transparency in the reinsurance industry.
At the heart of Karn’s vision for Re and the broader application of blockchain technology in reinsurance lay a simple yet powerful premise: transparency begets trust, and trust begets liquidity. The tokenization of real-world assets and the subsequent flow of capital into the reinsurance market could revolutionize how risks are assessed, managed, and mitigated.
This seismic shift held the promise of not just reducing transaction costs but also fostering a more inclusive ecosystem where anyone, regardless of geographic or economic barriers, could participate in the reinsurance market.
Thank you to everyone who made it out! We appreciate you and loved getting to meet everyone interested in the RWA space. We’re so excited to join the next ETH Denver conference. Big shoutout to the Electric Capital team for their support. Until next year, fren!
